Beyond the community: An outbreak is often referred to an infectious agent spreading within a community/small area, but when spread beyond this small community to other areas/cities/states is called and epidemic. When the spread is crossing beyond the country to other continent(s) is called a pandemic as what happened with the h1n1 swine flu in 2009. Have fun learning. Knowledge is power.
