HPV vaccine: Human papillomavirus (hpv) is a sexually transmitted disease that is a common cause of cervical cancer. The idea behind the vacinne shot is to reduce the risk of acquiring hpv, which should lower the future risk of that type of cervical cancer. This vaccine does not protect you against HIV or any other type of sexually transmitted disease.
