Completey different: Other than the names west nile, and african sleep sickness, which sound related to africa, there are no similarities. West nile is caused by a viral infection spread by a mosquito. Treatment is supportive only and you basically wait to get better. African sleeping sickness is caused by a parasite spread by a tsetse fly. There are medications used to treat it, but the illness is far more serious.
