Location, pain etc.: Herpes hurts! if it is a painful rash made up of little blisters on a red base, this may be herpes, particularly if it is on your lip or genital area. Zoster, or shingles, can look similar and affect one side of the body, usually in a "streak" pattern. See a doctor for further work up to be sure/.
