Embarrassing question, but what does pale or lighter-colored faeces indicate?

See a doctor: Significant color changes that persist could be a sign of serious problems with you GI tract and you should see a doctor for a physical exam and get lab work done. Light colored or gray colored stool, especially if it floats, could mean a blockage of the bile duct that prevents the normal amount of bile from mixing with food and gives it it's normal color. Bile duct blockage can come from cancer.
