Is diarrhea during pregnancy harmful to my baby?

Yes: Diarrhea can be harmful in 2 ways. If one gets dehydrated, one has lower blood pressure which decreases blood perfusion to the baby. Also, one can lose vital electrolytes with the diarrhea. One should use pedialyte as opposed to gatorade to replenish fluid and electrolyte losses.

Maybe: The concept of diarrhea is vague & somewhat relative. If you have a large volume of watery stools you can become dry & lose valuable metabolic materials. Such a case must be watched closely to prevent an indirect effect on baby. If you put out a cup or two of watery stools per day but maintain relatively good intake & nutrition, your baby may not have any negative effect.
