How are prostheses attached to the body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variety of ways : There are a variety of ways that they are attached. In the lower extremity, they are either attached with a suction sleeve that fits between the leg and the prosthesis. Some older types of suspension systems use various leather cuffs that fit on the thigh to hold the prosthesis in place or even older designs that go around the hip. In the upper extremity, it is usually a sling type of harness.
