X-rays: I am assuming that you are having knee pain again following a tkra in the past. With the material used in the manufacturing of the prosthesis, "wearing out" is not probable. But loosening of the prosthesis does occur. An x- ray of the knee is 1st step in securing the correct diagnosis. You may then need a ct scan perform with and without contrast. Call your orthopedist for an appointment.

Pain and swelling: Although different patients will have different symptoms, pain and swelling of a knee replacement are the typical signs to watch for. Most knee replacements are very durable and can last 15 or more years. If you have concerns about your joint replacement, see an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in knee replacement surgery. X-rays will be needed to allow your surgeon to evaluate the implant.
