Rotator cuff healing: Tears of the rotator cuff only truly heal to bone when surgically repaired. Tendon cannot stretch back out and reattach themselves to bone spontaneously. Some partial tears may become asymptommatic with non-op care. However, they do not ever "heal" without surgery.

Yes: A strain of the rotator cuff usually heals in 6-8 weeks. Rotator cuff tears in general do not heal unless surgically repaired. Surgical treatment is generally done arthroscopically (using a small camera). Most patients (90%) have improvement and are satisfied with surgery. Healing of the tendon after surgical repair is dependent on the size and type of tear as well how old the tear is.

Depends.: If its in the muscle or just a strain to the rotator cuff tendon, then it has the potential to heal completely. Rotator cuff tendons that are torn off the bone, generally do not heal themselves and may require surgery.
