How do you know who passed herpes to each other . who had the virus first?

Difficult to know: This is a difficult question especially when both partners have had additional partners. There is a blood test that shows antibody status for hsv which may help determine whether you have been exposed to the virus previously. However, this doesn't help when both partners are infected.
