What kinds of birth defects can pediatric heart surgeons cure?

All heart defects: Pediatrics heart surgeons can cure almost all congenital heart defects, some better than others. There has been tremendous progress in diagnosis and treatments of congenital heart defects in my life-time.. Fifty years ago it was hard to believe that we can cure almost all congenital heart defects.

Repair, not cure: Most heart defects can be repaired or palliated (improved) by pediatric heart surgeons. A "cure" would imply no need for follow-up; this is not the case for most congenital heart lesions.
