A member asked:

Any one know of aplastic anemia being cured by immunosuppressive therapy?

Yes: Prognosis of aplastic anemia depends on age (younger is better) and the severity of the blood count abnormalities. While younger patients may be referred for stem cell transplant, older patients, perhaps those over 40, are given immunosuppressive therapy. Response rates are over 60% and durable remissions occur quite frequently.

Depends: Sometimes yes. Prognosis will depend on the age as well as the severity of the disease. The younger the age is the higher the respond of therapy . Bone marrow transplant can cure aplastic anemia in about 60-70%. Discuss further with your oncologist/hematologist.
