A member asked:

Stinging pain in the buttock. out of the blue. what is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Keep an eye on it.: Realistically, pains that come out of nowhere generally resolve and go away in a short period of time (days to weeks). Major nerve pain, like sciatica, radiates from this area to the leg or foot. Minor trauma that you may not even remember can occur to the muscles, ligaments or skin. At your age, shingles is a possibility. If you develop blisters and a rash in that area, medications can shorten.
