What are the characteristics of cancerous lumps? should they be painful? are they mushy?

Variable: Usually cancerous lumps like in the breast are hard and don't move well. Benign ones are usually softer, moveable, and can be tender. No way to tell for sure without seeing a doc and perhaps doing a biopsy depending on the physical findings. Have someone look at it!
