Corneal abrasions: Corneal abrasions are what i think you are referring to. These will generally heal quickly on their own (1-3 days) especially with ointment . Most abrasions are painful at least to some extent but may be excruciating. Painless scratches would be unlikely. All abrasions should be examined & monitered by a medical or better yet an eye care professional as infection is always a risk.
