Several ways: From a medical standpoint, it increases one's lifetime risk of: hypertension, cardiovascular disease, high lipids like cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. From a fertility standpoint, it can make it harder to: get pregnant, stay pregnant, and have increase odds of high blood pressure and high sugar in pregnancy. Hope this helps.
