Are BE uncomfortable: Yes. Firstly there is the discomfort of bowel prep. Seocndly when there a nozzle is inserted and barium intorduced. Then air is introduced to create the air-contrast effect. Yes it is uncomfortable. And - if lesions found - usually colonoscopy is then required...
