Depends on type: Children with enterotoxic hus die 5% or less. With atypical hus the death rate is higher with chronic recurrent episodes.

HUS mortality: It is estimated that ~5% die from hemolytic-uremic syndrome. Adults usually fare worse than children (and the underlying etiology of the disease is different).
