Various causes: Vitamin d deficiency is seen with dark skin, older age, use of sunblock, lower sun light exposure, breast feeding, intestinal and liver disorders and obesity. Iron deficiency is associated with heavy and/or frequent menstrual cycles, other causes of blood loss, and poor intestinal absorption. With no obvious cause, over the age of 30, intestinal cancer, ulcer or inflammatory disease can be serious.

Darkness.bleeding: Vitamin d is can be produced in your body by exposure to sunlight. If you avoid the sun, you will be deficient. Iron deficiency is mostly through excessive bleed (heavy periods).

Darkness & Bleeding: Avoiding sunlight causes vitamin d deficiency--rickets tends to occur in northern climes in the winter. The main non-nutritional cause of iron deficiency is bleeding, including menstrual blood loss, which is why women are at greater risk for this than men. Men can become iron deficient due to unseen blood loss from stomach ulcers or intestinal cancers.
