Do midwives have certain regulations on who they can see as patients?

Yes: Generally speaking, patients with complicated histories (e.g. Uncontrolled gdm, blood pressure issues, etc...) are probably not ideal candidates for care by the midwife. Each institution and/or group has their own guidelines for practitioner privileges. Check with your specific group.
