Adies and others: A tonic pupil is one that reacts to light very sluggishly if at all. It is typically larger than the other pupil, but can be the smaller of the two if present for a long time. The most common is adies tonic pupil which is benign and can be part of something called adies syndrome which is also fairly benign. There are some more serious conditions associated with tonic pupil. Go see your eye md.
