Yes: This is an older medication that is almost always used for schizophrenia. It has also been used at times for aggression and anxiety, since it tends to provide a calming affect. Stelazine is used less often these days since the newer medicines tend to be tolerated better.

Yes: Stelazine is a first generation antipsychotic medication. It is effective in controlling the psychosis as seen in schizophrenia. As you indicated, trifluoperazine is the generic name for stelazine. The first generation antipsychotic medications tend to have more side-effects then the second generation antipsychotics. This may especially apply to the side-effect called tardive dyskinesia.
