Hormone balance: Basically, the ovary becomes dysfunctional past a certain age, which is why women are less fertile at 35 than they are at 25. Most hormones affect one another so that as we age, we become imbalanced. This can lead to the symptoms commonly referred to as perimenopause. They are treatable and reversible. While depression may be present, it almost never is the sole culprit of these symptoms.
