Blood thinner: Warfarin is a very tricky blood thinner -- everybody needs a different dose, & levels can change very quickly from diet, other meds, illness, & even for no apparent reason. Watch for any excessive bleeding. Easy bruising is normal, but severe bruises, bleeding when brushing teeth, blood in stool etc are emergencies & need check fast. Knowing patient's current dose, labs & meds really helps us help.

Excessive bleeding: Warfarin effect is susceptible to modification by diet, and other medications. If the modification enhances the effect of warfarin, the patient is at risk of bleeding, internally or externally. If the effect of warfarin is suppressed then the person is at risk of developing clots. Warfarin is used to prevent development of clots.
