Need prescription: The treatments that work well are all prescription medications but unlike most other rx's they are not ridiculously overpriced. I have had good success with topical clindamycin; if this isn't enough, tetracycline (contraindicated in pregnancy) and Erythromycin in pill form are often sufficient. The big-guns treatments that must be rx'd by dermatologists work best but are pricey & risky.

See a dermatologist: Acne is not an infection. Acne is not an important factor in acne. Treatment varies with different cases. Be prepared to tell the dr about any birth control, meds, vitamins, pregnancy, menstrual periods, skin products. Meanwhile, try the lowest strength benzoyl peroxide. Careful, it bleaches fabrics.
