A member asked:

Why would you take amerge (naratriptan)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

For acute migraine: Amerge is a triptan used for acute treatment of migraine. The half life is long meaning that it doesn't work as well for many migraineurs as other triptans such as Imitrex or relpax (eletriptan). Some women with menstrual migraine find that it produces long lasting relief. When taken when the pain is mild, the efficacy of Amerge and all acute migraine medications is greatly increased.
