Dangerous: There are unscientific reports of uterine contractions and even miscarriages with high doses of saffron ingestion. Such high levels would be possible with ingestion of saffron as a supplement. There is not yet any scientific evidence for or against saffron use (during pregnancy or otherwise). Never take a supplement without first clearing it with your ob/gyn or family doc if you are pregnant.
