Medication: Define to me- senior people? Treatment will depend on whether the person is a transplant candidate or not. The age cut off would be 70 year old- but also will depend on the overall condition/other medical problems and preference. If not eligible for tansplant-treatment would be combination of 2 or 3 medications ( biological agent, steroids and plus minus chemo ) mainly then +/- maintainanace.

What is the treatment for young people with myeloma?

Myeloma treatment: Agressive therapy would be recommended in young people with myeloma. Treatment will include several cycles of combination of 3 different medication as induction then followed by stem cell collection for future autologous stem cell transplantation that can be done soon after completion of chemotherapy or later in the future as indicated- plus minus maintanance therapy . Discuss further with your md.

I recently heard that 45% of people are initially treated with VRd induction. Soon an ECOG study looking at VRd vs. CfzRd will be out to evaluate that new drug. CyBorD is another attractive induction option. SWOG has a VRd+Elo study for high risk MM.
