No real age limit: If a baby has an eye problem, he can be seen by pediatric ophthalmologists as soon as he is born, while still in the hospital. Luckily, very very few babies are born with an eye problem. General ophthalmologists are not used to dealing with babies, so would prefer to see children at an age when they are cooperative.
