What is a good pulse rate for someone who exercises?

When?: During the exercise or while resting? During vigorous exercise, depending on the age and fitness of the person, the heart rate could be from 120-170. Resting heart rate varies from the 40s (for a marathoner) to the 90s (for someone much less fit).

It depends on age: Subtract your current age in years (35) from 220. First multiply the number you get by 0.6. This is your minimum target exercising heart rate. Now multiply the first number you got by 0.8. This is your maximum target heart rate. Stay inside that range when you exercise. 220-35=185; 185x0.6= 111; 185x0.8=148. Your "normal" heart rate for exercise is between those 2 numbers.
