Yes: Bleeding from implantation, sensitive cervix, and from beneath the placenta are common causes. Of course, some bleeding is a sign of more ominous things like miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, so a thorough evaluation is indicated, especially for persistent and/or measurable bleeding.

Possibly: When the pregnancy implants into the endometrial lining of your uterus you may have light bleeding. In addition, the cervix is often friable in pregnancy (irritated looking and bleeds easily). Sex, a pap, and vaginal exam may cause bleeding too. However, discuss your bleeding with your doctor as not all of it is normal.
