Prevention is key: Once you have been identified as a person in whom adenomas (pre-cancerous polyps) develop: 1) first remove the polyps; 2) schedule surveillance to rule out new polyp development; 3) prevention by behavior & diet. Current recommendations for the latter include: use of daily low-dose aspirin, weight management, reduction of dietary animal fats, optimized fiber intake, calcium supplementation.
