Prenatal ultrasound.: Screening with prenatal ultrasound is one way to screen for certain types of dwarfism that could potentially be lethal. Prenatal screening and diagnosis are primarily performed in the second trimester, but late first trimester fetal structural assessment is becoming more common with advances in transvaginal ultrasound imaging and the widespread use of first trimester screening for down syndrome.
