Their argument...: Is that switching to the icd-10 would is overly burdensome, expensive, and has not been proven to improve patient care or safety at all. Do we really need a code for “walked into lamppost, initial encounter" (w22.02xa), or “burn due to water-skis on fire” (v91.07xa)? Both real icd-10 codes.
