How soon after birth will my areolas return to their original color?

May remain darker: Women can have increased pigmentation (darker coloring) on the face, the areolas, and some other areas of the body during pregnancy. After delivery, the coloring gradually returns towards normal over a few months, but areolas may remain darker than their original pre-pregnant color.

When? Hmmmm....: While most pregnancy-related changes in the breast will eventually go away, the darker-colored, thicker areola, an adaptation that prepares you for the wear-and-tear of nursing, may never fully change back. It may become lighter over the course of weeks to months, but this is a gradual process and often incomplete.
