No: Most cases of conjunctival irritation are associated with 'pink'ness of the eye and discharge leading to "crusting" of the eyelids. There may be an itchy sensation. Single "white" spotting usually does not occur.

Pinguecula: When conjunctivitis occurs, the lining over the white of the eye turns red but sometimes much less so at the site of a normal structure termed pinguecula at the 3 and 9 o'clock position next to the cornea. Patients identify this as a white spot due to the color contrast, but it is a normal structure highlighted in the redness of the eye lining.
