My 2 yr olds dr always says she has an ear infection even though she shows no signs of illness/infection.do i need to keep giving her antibiotics?

No: The current recommendations by the aap and aafp both state that in the absence of symptoms that antibiotics are not needed. Likewise, if the fevers or ear pain are controllable with tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin, antibiotics are not needed.

Antibiotics?: Antibiotics not needed. Your child may have persistent fluid in her ears. If this has been going on for 3 months or more, i suggest you get a hearing evaluation and ENT check.

Depends: If s/he is overcalling the infections and just treating fluid accumulation it is unnecessary.However, kids don't always have obvious symptoms when they have germs & pus in the middle ears & need treatment. Untreated disease can sometimes self heal over 8-12 weeks but the middle ear fluid can also turn to a thick glue like material & never clear without help. A visit to an ENT would be helpful
