Infert. and cancer: Des (diethyl-stilbestrol) was an estrogen-like drug given to pregnant women to prevent miscarriage. It causes female offspring to have uterine malformations, vaginal adenosis that can be disabling, and a rare kind of cancer, clear cell cancer of the cervix. There may not be any symptoms. Des has not been used since the 60"s.
