Many causes: Your symptoms can have many causes. At the ER they most likely ruled out the dangerous/serious causes, and told you to follow up with your doctor for further evaluation. They will have also told you to return to the ER if you develop worsening symptoms. Could be a virus, food poisoning, or any number of other causes.
