A member asked:

Would a doctor order it if i asked to be tested for leukemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A blood count: Leukemia is suspected, and may be diagnosed, by a blood count. A bone marrow biopsy is usually required to confirm the diagnosis and get additional information about the leukemia. The doctor would likely do a blood count, however, a bone marrow biopsy is an invasive procedure that would only be done if the blood count suggested a serious bone marrow disorder, of which leukemia is one.
