Is there a difference between kras wild and kras mutant colon cancer?

Yes: If your cancer has mutant KRAS, you're pretty much guaranteed of not responding at all to a couple of the pricey new chemotherapy agents. KRAS is usually activated by point mutation, but sometimes by amplification instead (more copies). Good luck with this and I hope your treatment, whatever the genotype, is successful.

Yes definitely: These are two different types of colon cancer and require different treatment approach. It is better to have KRAS wild type than KRAS mutated type, the latter has but limited treatment options, in case the Cancer recurs.

Chemoresistance: In metstatic colorectal cancer combinations of chemotherapy utilized. Drug combos such as FOLFOX are employed. With a poor response, immunotherapy is added such as the VEGF receptor antibodies or those targeting epidermal growth factor receptors like Erbitux and Vectibix (panitumumab). If the standard or wild type Kras is present in mets, there is a fairly good response but neg activity in mutated Kras.
