No: Chances are your tonsil infection was on a "background" of a VIRAL upper Respuratory infection. This is the "tail end! Hope this helps! Dr Z

Not side effect: Pin prick type pain in throat would not be a side effect of antibiotics. The sensation may be due to an irritation of the throat, likely temporary. If it persists or becomes severe see your physician.
