Active component: I happen to have a rare mature nutmeg tree and have felt curious about this product. It was a coveted spice in the past, and widely used as such. However, toxic or psychedelic effects, raw or in tea are related to its active component, a hallucinogenic substance called Myristicine. I appears that the answer to your question is that that is dose related. By and large tea must be less concentrated.
