can haloperidol be used for opioid withdrawal?

Not recommended: Haloperidol is an anti-psychotic. It helps people who are agitated from psychosis. Agitation from opioid withdrawal comes from a different source. Haloperidol will help to cloud the consciousness, but will not help symptoms of withdrawal. Clonidine, or even better, lofexidine are more appropriate choices.
