What type?: Interventional radiology specializes in minimally invasive and image guided procedures. Patients in need of tunneled catheters for long term therapy (chemotherapy, dialysis or vascular access) may be referred. Although certain specialists and surgeons may also place such catheters, the division of labor in many regions leaves this to the interventional radiologist. Discuss with your doctor!
