Central lines: A central venous catheter can be passed through a multitude of veins including leg, arm and neck veins. Usually it is passed through a relatively large vein such as the antecubital, femoral or ext jugular. The end point of the central line is to lie in the innominate vein just proximal to the entrance of the superior vena cava into the right atrium.
