FAS is unique in : its criteria of prenatal exposure to alcohol, prenatal &/or postnatal growth failure of head &/or body, characteristic facial features & some evidence of brain damage. It can be caused by intermittent binges, 4 drinks/few hrs., 3 wks. post-conception -term. It can coexist with genetic syndromes. Fetal Hydantoin Syndrome, Noonan's Syndrome, etc., may have a few similar facial features.
