Fairly common.: Hormonal changes can cause premature beats and runs of rapid beating. If they continue to recur, they merit a careful cardiovascular evaluation, including an EKG, complete history, physical exam and blood tests, including tests for anemia, kidney function and thyroid function. Treatment with beta blockers and other drugs can help whether there's another cause or simply hormonal changes.
