Cough: When you cough you use your diaphragma muscle which can be "overworked" now and therefore hurts when you cough. Why you cough I cannot say without more information and exam - asthma, COPD, infection, reflux.

ArnoldWouldBeProud!: Think about what it takes to cough.Your throat closes and then your diaphragm goes into a hard fast contraction until it overcomes the strength of your closed throat and BAM,all that spray and spittle flies out into the space around you, infecting everyone within a 30-foot radius. That's why you're supposed to cough into the crook of your elbow. One of those is like doing 50 sit-ups.That can add-up!

Infection?: If you have had your cough for just a few days (less than 10) then you may have a viral infection such as a cold or bronchitis. Your stomach may hurt from using the muscles when you cough. It is also possible that you have pneumonia which is more serious. It can cause cough as well as stomach pain. See your doctor or urgent care for evaluation.
