Pharyngitis: Hi. You have pharyngitis. This could have a viral or bacterial origin; viral is statistically more likely. Do you have any fevers? Strep throat is a bacterial pharyngitis that is often accompanied by fever. Drink plenty of fluids. Take ibuprofen (or similar drug of choice) for pain. You could see a PCP for an evaluation.

Viral infection.: Most sore throats are a viral infection and will resolve with time. If you also have fever though it could be strep or tonsillitis which might need an antibiotic. Check with your healthcare provider if uncertain. Good luck.
